A death in my own family taught me the great value of support at this very sad time. My aunt had put in writing how she wished her funeral to be held, what sort of food to serve at the wake and which flowers she wished to place on the grave (e.g. she never liked red flowers!). All of her requests were respected and acted upon. Her surviving relatives did not have to worry about what decisions to make or what she would have wanted.
